Jam of the Day – Fowl Weather/Lovemaking by Candlelight

Led Zeppelin – Rain Song

This song is great for today: “springtime,” “rain song,” I mean come on. But then, you start to pay attention to the video… and you have to stop and wonder, what is going on here? Who shot this footage of geese, malards, and other fowl and decided, “Na, I’m staying in tonight in the edit room to match up these random bird clips to Led Zeppelin bro”? You might say, “Well, somebody’s got to do it,” but you would be wrong.

BONUS RAINY DAY SLOW JAM:
Boyz II Men – 50 Candles

You can’t really hear it on this live version (sorry, couldn’t find the album version), but the very beginning of the song opens with a crash of thunder and some soflty spoken incantations to “just sit tight girl” and various other ways to let you know that you are about to have sweet love made to you, all up over and around your living room, by Boyz II Men. Of course, such a scene requires an absurd amount of candles, but in this live performance the Boyz really want to make it clear that they are NOT fronting, so suddenly 50 real candles appear on stage! Enjoy it on this rainy Friday.

Jam of the Day – O So Strange

N.A.S.A. – Strange Enough ft. Karen O, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, and Fatlip

I feel like this song is pretty indicative of the whole Spirit of Apollo mission: grab a dope beat, piece together some unexpected collaborations that make ’em say huh, mix it all together and bake up a track that is pretty tasty and cool:

A fun fact about this song is that Karen O was at one time working on a solo album with (and dating) Squeak E. Clean (a.k.a. Sam Spiegel, of N.A.S.A.) that never panned out. If this track is any indication, it could have been a hot record. Oh well.

Jam of the Day – Straight Outta PA

NWA – Straight Outta Compton

Straight outta P-A, it’s a crazy brother named Specter! This song is a shout out to Arlen Specter, the venerable Senator outta Pennsylvania who yesterday announced that he would be leaving the Republican Party and joining the Democrats, mostly because he almost certainly has no shot at re-election running as a Republican.

Deomcrats embraced the move, calling it “game-changing,” while Republicans mostly said “WTF?!?” and continued the soul-searching that everyone in the media thinks should happen but may or may not actually be taking place.

We here at ev2bk call it “bad ass.” Like, check out this quote at the end of the NYTimes article: “I don’t expect everybody to agree with all my votes,” he said. “I don’t agree with them all myself at this point.” Straight gangster.

Jam of the Day – It’s Electric

MGMT – Electric Feel

It’s hot like an electric forest out there today.

I can’t embed the video for some reason, so looks like you have to go the extra mile and click on the link above. But if images were words, it would look something like this:

Talking animals!
Glitter-y rain!
Motorbikes in the moon!

Lykke Li and Bon Iver – Dance Dance Dance

It’s a beautiful day again and if you’re going to be stuck in your office like me all you’re probably thinking about is being outside soaking in the sunshine. Here’s a great one recorded in the park with Lykke Li and Bon Iver, enjoy!

Jam of the Day – Touching Down in San Juan

Big Pun – 100%

It’s gorgeous outside today, and this video/song always gets me in the mood to go run around the Puerto Rican beach sipping sweet, icy beverages with a bunch of model types and my closest poeples. Oh wait, that’s what Big Pun and Tony Sunshine are doing:

This weekend is shaping up to be no joke on the sunshine tip, make it count gente!
