Jam of the Day – A Second Chance for PB & J

For the last week or so we here at EV2BK have been seriously getting down to “Second Chance” the new single from the forthcoming Peter Bjorn & John album, Gimmie Some. “This time around we had the clear idea of going back to basics–guitar, bass, drums,” Peter (Moren) recently told SPIN. To promote their sixth LP, set to be released in late March, the Swedish trio played their first US show last week for a crowd of 150 people in the tiny basement venue at Santos Party House. PB & J performed the song last night on Conan and you can watch the live performance here, but the recorded version is even more rocking.

Jam of the Day – You’ll Have to Work Harder in 2011

Well just like T-Pain, we took a break for a while and now we’re coming back SUPER BIG. This T-Mix of the Wiz Khalifa track “Black & Yellow” is the obvious favorite over the G-Mix, without question. When he says “every whip I do IT in, the rims’ super big,” you’re not sure if he’s talking about the proverbial “IT,” like he’s Will Smith getting jiggy with “it,” or whether he only gets busy in cars with rims 22″ or larger! Conundrum.

Wiz Khalifa ft. T-Pain – Black & Yellow (T-MIX):

But then WHOA. I check out this link from TheHairpin.com to an article about this absolutely amazing track from this 10-year-old named LYRIKKAL with the fire remix. She is killing it! And also saving for college, while taking mad dance classes and shit. “And yo I love ya’ll…back!”

LYRIKKAL – Pink & Purple:

Shout outs to HI-C (10% juice).

Jam of the Day – This Christmas, Donny Hathaway Will Seduce You

Every time I listen to this song, I notice more how much it sounds like Donny Hathaway is trying to seduce me. Hanging under the mistletoe, I’m going to get to know him better? The fireside is blazing bright? We’re “caroling all through the night” are we? This is going to be a “very special Christmas” for him? But still, the song is a classic and amazing, so enjoy it with someone special this Christmas.

Jam of the Day – Last Christmas

Doesn’t everyone love a great ski trip? Not poor George Michael. Last year he gave her his heart and she just threw it away?! Then why was she invited this year? Lesson learned, no exes should be invited to fun holidays in the snow. And, needless to say, if American Apparel is looking for ideas for it’s 2012 8os throw back ski line, this video is the perfect source of inspiration. Heartbreak or not, this is one of my favorites.

Jam of the Day – Those Holiday J-I-N-G-L-E Bells

This is probably the most upbeat and jazzy version of “Jingle Bells” out there, from good Ol’ Blue Eyes. Throw it on while you decorate a tree and watch the Christmas dance party materialize before your eyes.
