After over a year of sitting on this amazing video that we produced with EMOTE Productions for Boy Crisis, the funk of a thousand suns burst through the cables holding it back and the glorious “L’Homme” video found its way into the world. Will this serve as the guiding beacon bringing Boy Crisis home again and ready to party? We hope so.
Boy Crisis – L’Homme (Official Music Video):

The beginning drum beats of this song sound suspiciously like Marilyn Manson‘s “Beautiful People,” but once the guitar line drops in on “Percussion Gun” from New York City band White Rabbits, it’s clear that we have a great track on our hands here. There was kind of a reason not to write about a song with guns in the title today, but I can’t really tell what’s going on with this story. And then I stumble upon this live version of a song called “Rudie Fails” that White Rabbits performed at the SPIN offices. This is a good joke and another good song. This is a band that really knows how to rock out on the drum set. So White Rabbits wins. Jam of the Day.

And if the image of white rabbits gets you in the mood for a little magic this weekend, go check out Paper Garden Records Presents: Multiverse Playground on Saturday Night at 3rd Ward. It’s getting all sorts of press coverage, like even in the NY Post, and should be a great time with shows from Boy Crisis, a guest appearance from Das Racist, and sets from a bunch of other great bands. Come check it out!
Last night at Pianos, we caught a set from Boy Crisis, who were joined onstage near the end of their performance by the other half of Das Racist, Himanshu Suri (along with Boy Crisis frontman Victor Vazquez), for a “live remix” of DR’s “Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell” and BC’s “Dressed to Digress.” Check out a live video of the combination.

Not sure what happened to the video during filming, but at least the audio gives you an idea of what went down. “Combination Best of Times and Worst of Times.” Word.
As a final update to our series of posts about the new “Fountain of Youth” video from Boy Crisis, here’s the official final version, directed by Jordan Fish, which they just posted earlier today.

Boy Crisis is also playing a show tonight at Cameo Gallery, in Williamsburg. Come see what they’re wearing this time!
It looks like we finally have a release date set for the new Boy Crisis record, Tulipomania! According to their myspace blog, we can expect an October 5th release (both in stores and online), although I think that you may be able to pick up a copy in the U.K. already. Also, the first single, “Fountain of Youth,” will be released on September 28th. Get psyched!
So last night we had a chance to see them play at Mercury Lounge, and it was a blast. The band got all dolled up in matching costumes (taken from the set of the “Fountian of Youth” video shoot earlier this month), and were surrounded on either side of the stage by the very girls that were holding them aloft in the video:

They played kind of a short set, but it included a lot of the new material (“Elementary Particles” was the opener, followed by “Bohemian Grove,” and later on “Fountain of Youth” was probably one of the best songs they played all night). And before they jumped into the encore of “Dressed to Digress,” we were hit with a pretty great cover of “In the Air Tonight,” the Phil Collins classic! Check it:

The place was pretty dark for this one, so the video quality isn’t top-notch, but the magic shines through in the vocals.
In case you were wondering how the video shoot went for Boy Crisis’ “Founting of Youth” at McCarren Park this past weekend, the band has now posted a few “behind-the-scenes” pictures of the on its Myspace page:
